I've always been passionate about sports and fitness, and that's what led me to pursue a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Limerick. After graduating in 2016, I knew that I wanted to help athletes achieve their full potential, particularly in the area of speed coaching for field sport athletes. Over the years, I've honed my expertise in developing maximal sprint speed, acceleration, and change of direction abilities across a range of different sports.
I've been lucky enough to have worked in the US and in the UK with Wolverhampton Wanderers as part of my University placement. This was the major driver in me looking to pursue this line of work and being so driven to achieve it. I've also been incredibly lucky in the last decade or so to have worked with some phenomenally driven local athletes too, which are the very people we seek to serve. You can check them out here.
While my primary background is in soccer, I've recently been focusing more on female athletic performance in both team settings and individuals. As the managing director and head of performance at Atlas High Performance, my main goal is to ensure that we deliver high-quality coaching and programmes that help our clients reach their athletic potential. It's not just about physical development, but also about building a culture of high performance, maintaining a positive attitude, and having fun while pushing ourselves to be better every day.
As the managing director, my role is to ensure that the business runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis, which involves everything from keeping the lights on in the building to raising awareness about our athletic development programmes. My focus is on educating people about the long-term benefits of strength and conditioning programmes that focus on athletic development, and I'm constantly striving to raise the bar in terms of what we can offer our clients.
As head of performance, my focus is on designing and delivering high-quality coaching sessions that help our clients achieve their athletic goals. This involves working closely with my team of coaches to ensure that we're all on the same page and delivering a consistent message. I believe that communication is key, and I'm always striving to improve my own communication skills so that I can motivate and inspire others to be their best.
Some of the key personal attributes that I believe are essential for success in this field include strong leadership skills, attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to motivate and inspire others, being a team player, having a positive attitude, being adaptable and open to change, being knowledgeable and passionate about sports and fitness, and having a strong work ethic.
In conclusion, I'm passionate about what I do, and I'm always striving to be the best that I can be. Whether it's developing new coaching techniques, building relationships with clients, or finding ways to improve our business operations, I'm always looking for ways to push myself and our team to the next level. And at the end of the day, it's all about helping our clients achieve their athletic goals, while also maintaining a healthy, fun, and fulfilling lifestyle.
